Lancome was founded in France in 1935 by Armand Petitjean and Guillaume d'Ornano as a fragrance house, and launched its first five fragrances at that year's Brussels World's Fair. It moved into skincare in 1936 with Nutrix, an all-purpose repair cream, and was acquired by L'Oreal in 1964. It sits in the same group as L'Oreal Paris, the mass-market brand behind Revitalift.
