Also seen as: DNA repair enzyme, photolyase-class enzyme
    All ingredients

    What it does

A DNA repair enzyme delivered in a liposomal capsule to support the skin's natural repair of UV-induced damage at the cellular level.

    Best for

Mature skin, sun-exposed skin, and longevity-focused anti-aging routines.

    The full picture

Endonucleases are enzymes that cut DNA at specific points to support the cell's natural repair of damage. UV radiation creates pyrimidine dimers and other DNA lesions in skin cells, which accumulate over time and contribute to visible aging. Topical endonuclease products encapsulate the enzyme in liposomes to help it survive long enough to reach living skin cells. The category is relatively new and the strongest research is on photolyase-class enzymes. Used in Medik8 Advanced Pro-Collagen+ Peptide Cream as part of the brand's longevity-positioning.

    Evidence

The topical DNA-repair-enzyme category (photolyase and related) has early laboratory and clinical interest, but independent evidence for specific encapsulated forms is limited.
