    What it does

A neurotransmitter-modulating peptide often described as a topical Botox-alternative. Reduces the appearance of expression lines by softening muscle contraction signals.

    Best for

Forehead lines, crow's feet, and the 11-lines between the brows. Best for fine expression wrinkles, not deep static wrinkles.

    The full picture

Argireline is the trade name for acetyl hexapeptide-8 (formerly -3), a peptide that mimics the SNAP-25 protein involved in muscle contraction. By competing with SNAP-25 at the neuromuscular junction, it modestly reduces the depth of expression lines without affecting general muscle function. Its action is mild compared to injectable neuromodulators, and the clinical data shows real but modest improvements over 4 to 12 weeks of consistent twice-daily use. Found in numbuzin's No.9 essence and a handful of professional lifting creams.

    Evidence

Clinical studies show measurable reduction in wrinkle depth in dynamic expression areas after 4 to 12 weeks of topical Argireline use.
