Illiyoon vs Aestura: the short answer

Pick Illiyoon if you want the lower price and a ceramide amount printed on the label: its Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream costs $3.70 per ounce and lists 7622 ppm of its main ceramide ingredient. Pick Aestura if you want niacinamide in the formula and brand studies with published sample sizes, at $11.83 per ounce for the Atobarrier365 Cream.

Illiyoon and Aestura are sister brands under Amorepacific, and both sell ceramide creams and lotions for dry, tight, sensitive-feeling skin and the look of a well-moisturized barrier. This is a label-and-data comparison of six products, three per brand, not a hands-on test. Prices, ingredient lists and brand results were read on September 29, 2026.

The two lines split on disclosure. Illiyoon prints ceramide amounts in parts per million (ppm) on its US ingredient lists but gives no sample sizes for its cream's test figures. Aestura prints no ceramide amounts but footnotes its studies with sample sizes and dates. None of the six products lists fragrance or denatured alcohol.

Are Illiyoon and Aestura the same company?

Yes. Illiyoon and Aestura are both owned by Amorepacific, the South Korean beauty group, which describes a Derma Beauty Unit that combines the two.

Aestura traces its roots to Pacific Pharma, founded in 1982. Its Atobarrier Cream was introduced through hospitals and clinics in 2008, the brand officially launched in 2012, and Pacific Pharma took the Aestura name in 2015. Aestura arrived in the US in February 2025, exclusively at Sephora. Illiyoon began as ILLI, a premium body moisturizing brand, took its current name around 2017, and sells in the US mainly through its own Amazon store. Amorepacific calls it "the low-irritant Derma Moisture brand."

The family ties show on the labels. Both flagship creams list hydroxypropyl bispalmitamide MEA and Ceramide NP, and both brands pair their ceramides with cholesterol and fatty acids. A 2003 review of ceramides and skin function describes the lipids between cells in the skin's outer layer as roughly equal parts ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids. That review covers skin lipids in general, not either brand's formula.

Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream vs Atobarrier365 Cream: which cream?

Illiyoon's cream costs less than a third as much per ounce and states its ceramide amount. Aestura's cream adds niacinamide and squalane and publishes the size of the study behind its figures. Both come in squeeze tubes. Illiyoon sells two versions of this line in different markets, and this comparison covers the formula on its US Amazon store and Olive Young US.

Illiyoon's US ingredient list tags hydroxypropyl bispalmitamide MEA as Ceramide PC-104 at 7622 ppm, about 0.76% by our conversion, since Illiyoon states ppm rather than a percentage. Illiyoon calls the blend plant-sourced ceramides, and the rest of the list leans on glycerin, third, and a set of plant extracts.

Aestura lists the same ingredient higher, 11th against 14th, but order alone does not give an amount, and Aestura states none. Its pitch is the capsule: "high-density ceramide capsules" of long-chain and linker ceramides, visible in the cream. It also lists squalane sixth and niacinamide 24th, in an amount its FAQ calls "quite small." A 2000 study found that nicotinamide increased ceramide production in cultured human skin cells, and that applying it to skin raised ceramide levels in the outer layer. That is ingredient research, not a test of this cream.

What each brand's own testing reports

Clinical and instrumental results are measured by researchers. Self-assessments are people rating their own skin. In vitro results come from lab tests, not people.

Illiyoon's Amazon listing reports hydration up 328% right after applying the cream, +85% at 72 hours and +57% at 100 hours, plus a 41% drop in skin sensitivity and 51% less flakiness. It gives no sample size, method or test dates for any of them.

Aestura's cream figures come from 32 women who feel their skin is sensitive and have dryness concerns, tested from February 20 to March 23, 2023:

• Surface hydration up 242% and deep hydration up 356% (clinical)
• Dead skin cells down 39% right away, and texture better by 4.7% right away and 5.5% at 4 weeks (clinical)
• Skin sensitivity down 51% at 4 weeks (clinical)
• Moisture lasting 120 hours after one application (instrumental)
• 96% said their skin had a healthy glow at 4 weeks (self-assessment)

These are the brand's own tests, not independent research, but the sample size and dates are on the page. Aestura's 190% ceramide retention figure for capsules comes from a lab test.

Ceramide Ato Lotion vs Atobarrier365 Lotion: which lotion?

Illiyoon's Ceramide Ato Lotion costs $2.11 per ounce against $6.31 for Aestura's Atobarrier365 Lotion, but Aestura's is the one built for the face, with niacinamide and footnoted study details. Illiyoon markets its lotion for face and body. Aestura's Sephora launch release calls its version a face lotion and a 2024 Allure Best of Beauty Award winner.

The number to notice is Illiyoon's ceramide figure: 65.5 ppm of Ceramide PC-104, less than a hundredth of the cream's 7622 ppm. Its one footnoted result is an 87% barrier figure after a week of daily use, which the brand labels an instrumental result in 31 women from December 2022.

Aestura tested its lotion on 31 women from February 27 to March 28, 2023. It reports moisture doubled right after application, dead skin cells down 42% right away and 19.4% at 4 weeks, and texture better by 9.6% at 4 weeks. Which is better for the body, Illiyoon or Aestura?

Aestura sells a dedicated body lotion, while Illiyoon covers the body with its all-over Ato Lotion and a wash for body and hair. The two products below do different jobs, so this is a routine choice, not a swap.

The Top to Toe Wash is a weakly acidic gel, per its US label, marketed for sensitive skin from newborns to adults. Illiyoon says it passed skin allergy, dermatology and HET-CAM tests, the last an alternative eye irritation test.

The Atobarrier365 Body Lotion uses what Aestura calls Ultra-Fine Ceramide, broken down finer for body skin, plus panthenol, acetyl glucosamine and gluconolactone, a PHA. In a test on 33 women from June 26 to August 18, 2023, Aestura reports moisture up 271.6% after the skin was tape-stripped 10 times and 44.8% fewer dead skin cells, both listed as clinical. Which is cheaper, Illiyoon or Aestura?

Illiyoon costs less per ounce in every pairing here, and the gap is widest on the flagship cream: $3.70 against $11.83.

Prices were read from each brand's Amazon store on September 29, 2026. That day Amazon had the Ceramide Ato Lotion on a deal at $19.99, 20% off its $24.99 list price, or $1.69 per ounce; the table uses the regular price. Illiyoon's 16.9 fl oz tube of the cream lists at $36.99, about $2.19 per ounce, and Sephora showed the Aestura cream at $30.40 with 5% off.

Which is better for sensitive skin, Illiyoon or Aestura?

Aestura's face cream and lotion, if you keep plant ingredients out of your routine. Otherwise the labels are close: none of the six products lists fragrance or denatured alcohol.

Both brands market these lines for dry and sensitive skin, and Illiyoon's US labels say allergy tested and sensitive skin tested. Aestura lists eczema-prone skin among the skin types for all three Atobarrier365 products and cites acceptance by the National Eczema Association. For everyday dry, tight or sensitive-feeling skin, the label details above are what separate the two.

One mismatch sits on Aestura's side. The "free of" line on its cream and lotion pages says they contain less than one percent synthetic fragrance, while both ingredient lists name no fragrance and its Amazon listings call them free of fragrance. Patch-test any new product, from either brand.
