Cosmetic Ingredient Evaluator
Odalys Martinez Muñoz is a cosmetic chemist with 16 years of experience who joined the BLC editorial team in September 2026 to evaluate cosmetic ingredients and their effects on skin. She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Havana and has worked as a cosmetic chemist at Suchel Fragancia and Suchel Debon, a Havana-based manufacturer of fragrances, cosmetics, and household products.
On the BLC team, Odalys looks at every ingredient in a formula and asks two questions: what is it there to do, and what effect can it have on skin? That covers the actives behind a firming, brightening, or hydrating claim, and the supporting ingredients that shape how a formula feels and how well sensitive skin tolerates it, such as fragrance components, alcohols, emollients, and preservatives.
Her evaluations feed the ingredient breakdowns on our product reviews and brand comparisons. Dr. Jadranka Cubrilo continues to review claim wording and citations before publication, so every ingredient conclusion on the site passes through two chemists.
Odalys has worked in fragrance and cosmetics manufacturing. She has no financial relationship with any brand featured on BLC, and she does not receive compensation, samples, or other benefits from those brands.
